EBO2 Therapy in Chicago

The Next Generation of Blood Optimization

The Next Generation of Blood Optimization

Bliss MD offers physician-supervised EBO2 therapy in Chicago and the northwest suburbs. Full blood volume processing. Six-wavelength light therapy. The most advanced ozone treatment available.

What Is EBO2 Therapy in Chicago and Schaumburg?

If you have heard of EBOO therapy, EBO2 is its most advanced evolution.

EBO2 stands for Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation 2.0. We take your blood out of one arm. We run it through a state-of-the-art filtration and ozonation circuit. We expose it to six wavelengths of therapeutic light. Then we return it through your other arm — cleaner, more oxygenated, and fully recharged.

At Bliss MD in Schaumburg, we are one of the very few physician-supervised clinics in the Chicago area offering true EBO2 therapy. Not standard EBOO. The upgraded system — with higher-volume filtration, therapeutic ozone concentrations, and the full Hemealumen polychromatic light device.

EBO2 vs. EBOO — What Is the Actual Difference?

Most clinics offering ozone therapy in the Chicago area are still using standard EBOO or 10-pass ozone. EBO2 is a measurably different system. Three core upgrades matter clinically.

1. Full Blood Volume Processing

Standard EBOO processes 1.8 to 3 liters of blood per session. That is roughly half your total blood supply. EBO2 processes 5 to 7 liters — your entire blood volume — in a single 90-minute session.

Think of the difference between washing half your car and doing a complete detail. The result is more comprehensive detoxification, deeper cellular impact, and more lasting outcomes.

2. Therapeutic-Range Ozonation

Standard EBOO operates at 2.5 to 7 gamma ozone concentration. EBO2 uses 15 to 26 gamma — precisely within the established therapeutic window of 10 to 30 gamma.

At this concentration, ozone actively breaks down excess lipids, damaged proteins, heavy metal complexes, and inflammatory debris. After your session you can see the difference. The waste canister fills with foam — oxidized lipids and inflammatory proteins that were circulating in your blood and are now gone.

3. Polychromatic Light Therapy — The Hemealumen Device

As your blood flows through 36 inches of quartz tubing, the Hemealumen device simultaneously exposes it to six distinct wavelengths of therapeutic light.

UVA enhances immune response and tissue oxygenation. UVC is germicidal and neutralizes bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms directly in the blood. Red light stimulates mitochondrial energy production and accelerates cellular healing. Green reduces systemic inflammation and supports lymphatic balance. Amber revitalizes circulation and promotes lymphatic detoxification. Blue targets pathogenic bacteria and supports immune modulation.

No other ozone therapy in the Chicago area delivers all three of these upgrades in a single session.

Who Is EBO2 Therapy in Chicago and Schaumburg For?

EBO2 is designed for patients who are serious about healing. Not managing symptoms — actually addressing root-level biology.

Our patients come to Bliss MD from across Chicago and the northwest suburbs when they are dealing with chronic fatigue that does not respond to conventional treatment, brain fog and cognitive decline from poor oxygen delivery and inflammatory cytokines, Long COVID and post-viral syndrome with lingering immune dysregulation, heavy metal and environmental toxin burden including mercury, lead, mold toxins, and microplastics, autoimmune conditions such as Lyme disease, Hashimoto’s, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular concerns including poor circulation and oxidative stress, cancer adjunct care alongside conventional treatment, and longevity and performance optimization for athletes and high-performers seeking cellular renewal.

If you have been told your labs are normal but you still feel terrible — EBO2 addresses biology that standard blood panels do not measure.

What to Expect During Your EBO2 Session at Bliss MD

Before Your Session

Every EBO2 patient begins with a physician consultation with Dr. Anand Thakkar. We review your health history, current symptoms, medications, and goals before recommending a protocol. Hydration in the 24 hours before your session is important. We ask that you avoid antioxidant supplements the morning of treatment, as these can reduce ozone’s therapeutic effect.

During Your Session

You will settle into a comfortable recliner at our Schaumburg clinic. Two small IV lines are placed — one in each arm. Your blood flows out through one line and through the EBO2 circuit. It is filtered, ozonated, oxygenated, and exposed to the Hemealumen light system. Then it is returned through the other line. The full session takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours. Most patients describe it as completely relaxing. Many fall asleep.

After Your Session

No downtime is required. Most patients leave feeling clearer, lighter, and more energized — sometimes within hours. We recommend hydration and light activity for the rest of the day. A typical initial protocol is 3 to 6 sessions spaced one week apart, followed by monthly maintenance.

Why Choose Bliss MD for EBO2 Therapy in Chicago or Schaumburg?

A significant difference exists between EBO2 at a wellness spa and EBO2 at a physician-supervised functional medicine clinic.

At Bliss MD, every session is supervised by Dr. Anand Thakkar — board-certified and trained in regenerative and functional medicine. We use the upgraded EBO2 system, not standard EBOO. The full Hemealumen polychromatic light device is included in every session. Ozone concentration, flow rate, and session length are individually calibrated to your biology. EBO2 at Bliss MD is not an isolated treatment. It is integrated with your functional medicine workup, lab analysis, and broader healing strategy.

We serve patients from Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Arlington Heights, Hanover Park, Elk Grove Village, Bloomingdale, Roselle, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Barrington, and across Chicago’s northwest suburbs.

Watch Dr. Thakkar Explain EBO2 Therapy in Chicago and Schaumburg

Want to see exactly how EBO2 works before booking? Dr. Anand Thakkar, MD walks you through the full EBO2 process in plain language — what happens to your blood, why full-volume processing matters, and what makes EBO2 different from standard ozone therapy.

What is the difference between EBO2 and EBOO?

EBO2 processes your entire blood volume — 5 to 7 liters — versus EBOO’s partial volume of 1.8 to 3 liters. EBO2 also uses a higher therapeutic ozone concentration in the established 15 to 26 gamma range. It includes the Hemealumen polychromatic light device with six wavelengths — UVA, UVC, red, green, amber, and blue. Standard EBOO does not include the light therapy component. Bliss MD offers both and can help you determine which protocol is right for your goals.

Is EBO2 therapy safe?

At Bliss MD, EBO2 is performed under direct physician supervision with medical-grade equipment in a clinical setting. All patients undergo a pre-treatment consultation and health screening. EBO2 uses a fully closed circuit — your blood is never exposed to outside air. The therapy is well-tolerated by most patients. Certain contraindications apply and are reviewed thoroughly during your consultation with Dr. Thakkar.

How many EBO2 sessions do I need?

Most patients begin with an initial series of 3 to 6 weekly sessions. They then transition to monthly maintenance. Dr. Thakkar recommends a protocol based on your specific health history, current symptoms, and goals. Some patients with chronic or complex conditions benefit from more frequent initial sessions.

Can EBO2 therapy help with Long COVID?

EBO2 is used by functional medicine physicians as part of comprehensive post-viral recovery protocols. The ozone and light therapy address systemic inflammation, immune dysregulation, and oxidative stress — factors strongly associated with persistent post-viral symptoms. At Bliss MD, we treat each patient individually and design protocols based on confirmed findings rather than blanket claims.

Does Bliss MD offer both EBO2 and EBOO?

Yes. Our Schaumburg clinic has an established EBOO program and now offers the upgraded EBO2 system with full-volume processing and Hemealumen polychromatic light therapy. Patients who have previously done EBOO with us are welcome to upgrade their protocol. Dr. Thakkar will discuss the differences and recommend the right option during your consultation.
