Two Clinics, Each About 30 Minutes Away
Lincoln Park (Chicago): take I-90/94 (the Kennedy) inbound and exit toward Diversey. The clinic is at 2707 N Halsted St, about 16 miles from Des Plaines.
Hanover Park: take I-90 west to the Barrington Road exit, then head south to Irving Park Road. The clinic is at 1802 Irving Park Rd, about 20 miles away.
From Park Ridge, Niles or Rosemont, Lincoln Park is usually the shorter trip. From Mount Prospect or Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park often is. For testosterone replacement Des Plaines IL patients, the choice comes down to where your day already takes you.
TRT Therapy Des Plaines IL Men Can Fit Around Work and Travel
With O’Hare next door, plenty of Des Plaines men fly for work. A testosterone replacement Des Plaines IL plan should work on the road too:
- Fewer trips: blood is drawn on-site at your visit, so labs and the appointment happen together
- A form that suits your schedule: pellets mean nothing to pack, while injections and cream make dose changes easier
- One physician: Dr. Thakkar, at whichever clinic you choose

Normal vs. Optimal Testosterone
The normal lab range and an optimal level are very different things. The range is wide, so a man can be “normal” on paper and still feel flat, tired and unlike himself.
Dr. Thakkar doesn’t want you to settle for a normal life. He wants you to have an exceptional one. That’s why each testosterone replacement Des Plaines IL plan uses individualized dosing. It aims for the effects you want while minimizing side effects. Optimal doesn’t mean “as high as possible.” It means the level where you feel well and your safety labs stay in range.
TRT Injections, Pellets and Cream
All three forms below are available at both of our clinics, Lincoln Park and Hanover Park.
Subcutaneous Injections
Traditional testosterone shots are oil-based, often in cottonseed or grapeseed oil. They go into the muscle, are harder to give, and levels rise and fall. Ours are compounded only, use MCT oil and go just under the skin twice a week, at home. If you searched for TRT injections Des Plaines IL men can give themselves, this is our option. For some patients, we also offer traditional intramuscular injections.
Compounded Pellets
Placed under the skin in the office every few months, depending on your labs. Compounding allows a cholesterol filler, plus an estrogen blocker only when your labs call for it. In our experience, extrusion and infection are very low. See testosterone pellets for men.
Compounded Cream
Applied daily to the scrotum. A common commercial gel is 1.62%; ours can be adjusted, for example from 5% to 20%.
Compounded products are not FDA-approved, and we always tell you which kind you’re getting.
Is It Low T?
Low drive, tiredness, weaker workouts and a short temper can come from low testosterone. They can also come from sleep apnea, thyroid problems, stress or medicines. Every testosterone replacement Des Plaines IL evaluation looks at all of them.
The American Urological Association uses a total testosterone below about 300 ng/dL on two early-morning tests, plus symptoms. The Endocrine Society also calls for repeat morning testing. Read about low testosterone symptoms.
TRT Cost and the Hormone Membership
Cost depends on the form, dose and labs. Our hormone membership keeps testosterone replacement Des Plaines IL care predictable. Hormone care is direct-pay, and HSA and FSA funds are welcome. Read TRT cost in Chicago.
Safety and Monitoring
Every testosterone replacement Des Plaines IL patient gets regular checks of testosterone, hematocrit, PSA, estradiol and blood pressure. TRT can lower sperm count, so tell us first if you may want children. It may not be right if you have prostate or breast cancer, or had a recent heart attack or stroke. Read is TRT safe?
Testosterone Replacement Des Plaines IL: FAQs
Do you have an office in Des Plaines?
No. We offer testosterone replacement Des Plaines IL patients two clinics, and both are about 30 minutes from Des Plaines outside rush hour: Lincoln Park in Chicago (about 16 miles via the Kennedy) and Hanover Park (about 20 miles via I-90 west). Pick whichever fits your commute.
Which clinic should I choose?
If you work in the city or head that way, Lincoln Park is easy off the Kennedy. If you live or work in the northwest suburbs, Hanover Park avoids city traffic. You can see Dr. Thakkar at either one.
Do you offer TRT injections?
Yes. Our subcutaneous injections are compounded with MCT oil and go just under the skin twice a week, at home, after we show you how. Compounded pellets and compounded cream are other options, and all three are available at both clinics. For some patients, we also offer traditional intramuscular injections.
I travel a lot. Which form suits travelers?
It depends on your labs and routine. Some frequent travelers like pellets because there’s nothing to pack. Others prefer injections or cream for easier dose changes. We’ll talk it through at your visit.
What does "optimal, not just normal" mean?
The normal range is wide, so a “normal” result can still come with symptoms. We aim for your optimal level, where you feel and function at your peak, using individualized dosing that minimizes side effects. Optimal doesn’t mean as high as possible.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds?
Yes. Hormone care is direct-pay, and HSA and FSA funds are accepted. Ask about our hormone membership and current pricing on your free call.
