P Shot Chicago care at Bliss MD has two goals. We offer a treatment that may help your erections. We also look for the reason they changed.

The P-Shot is a PRP penile injection, often called the P-Shot or Priapus Shot. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma, made from a small sample of your own blood. Dr. Anand Thakkar places it with ultrasound guidance. He also reviews your hormones, blood flow, medications and stress, so your plan fits you.

What We Offer for Erectile Dysfunction

  • Ultrasound-guided PRP. We can see the tissue and blood vessels as we inject.
  • Regenerative options. For some men, we discuss exosomes and stem cells (MSCs). See regenerative ED treatment.
  • Hormone testing. Testosterone, DHEA, estrogen, cortisol, thyroid and growth hormone markers.
  • Shockwave, medications and peptides. Including PT-141.
  • Lifestyle support. Weight, alcohol, exercise and performance anxiety.

Why Choose Bliss MD for P Shot Chicago Care?

P Shot Chicago: couple walking together from a private plane

Why Bliss MD

  • Physician-performed. Dr. Thakkar has been a board-certified internist (ABIM) since 2011. He is also board certified in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine (A4M/ABAARM) and is a Certified Menopause Practitioner (MSCP).
  • Cause-first care. Erectile dysfunction can be an early sign of heart, blood sugar or hormone problems. We check for these first.
  • Two clinics. Lincoln Park in Chicago, and our Schaumburg-area clinic in Hanover Park.

Who May Be a Candidate for a Men's P Shot?

Men often ask about a men’s P Shot when:

  • Erections are less firm or don’t last as long
  • Pills such as sildenafil or tadalafil work less well or cause side effects
  • Erections fade fast, which can point to a venous leak

The P-Shot may not suit men with an active infection, some blood disorders or some cancers. Blood thinners need review first.

What the Research Shows

PRP for erectile dysfunction is not FDA-approved. The American Urological Association (AUA) calls it experimental.1

The research is mixed. In one placebo-controlled trial, 69% of men on PRP reached a meaningful improvement at six months, compared with 27% on placebo.2 A later trial found no difference from placebo.3 A 2024 review found small-to-moderate benefits and mild, short-lived side effects.4

Common side effects include soreness, bruising or swelling. Less common risks include infection, bleeding and changes in sensation. Many of our patients report firmer, longer-lasting erections, but results vary. See P Shot benefits.

The P-Shot and Peyronie's Disease

Peyronie’s disease is a curve, dent or narrowing of the penis caused by scar tissue, called plaque, under the skin. It can make erections painful and sex difficult. Many men with Peyronie’s also have erectile dysfunction, so it often comes up during a P Shot Chicago consultation.

What the Evidence Says

PRP for Peyronie’s disease is not FDA-approved. Small studies report some improvement in curve or pain, but most were small and many had no placebo group.4 The American Urological Association’s Peyronie’s disease guideline does not list PRP among its recommended treatments.5 Options it does include are collagenase injections for some stable curves, other injections and surgery.

The same guideline notes that pain often eases on its own over time, while a curve is less likely to improve without treatment.5

How We Approach Peyronie’s

  • We take a careful history and examine the area. Photos of the curve during an erection can help.
  • We explain the guideline-supported options first. When collagenase or surgery may fit, we refer you to a urologist.
  • If you still want to try PRP, alone or with other care, we review the limited evidence and side effects first.

Our P-Shot Process

  1. Free 15-minute discovery call. Book here.
  2. Medical visit and labs. We check hormones, blood sugar and lipids.
  3. Your plan. PRP alone, or PRP with other options.
  4. Treatment day. We concentrate platelets from your blood, apply numbing cream and inject under ultrasound. It takes about an hour.
  5. Follow-up. We track your response and adjust.

P Shot Chicago Aftercare and Recovery

Most men drive home and go back to normal daily activity the same day. Here is what P Shot Chicago aftercare usually looks like at Bliss MD. Dr. Thakkar adjusts it to your plan, so always follow the written instructions you get at your visit.

The First 48 Hours

  • Mild soreness, swelling or a small bruise is common. It usually fades within a few days.
  • Wear supportive underwear and keep the injection area clean and dry.
  • Avoid all NSAIDs, including ibuprofen, for 72 to 96 hours after treatment. PRP works through a controlled healing response, and NSAIDs can blunt that response. Ask us what pain relief is OK for you.

Exercise and Sex

  • Walking and desk work are fine the same day.
  • Skip heavy lifting, cycling and hard workouts for 72 hours.
  • Most men can resume sex after 48 hours. We’ll confirm this for you on treatment day.

Using a Vacuum Erection Device (VED)

Many P-Shot protocols add a vacuum erection device, a simple pump that draws blood into the penis. The goal is to gently stretch and exercise the tissue while PRP effects build. Evidence for this step is limited, so we treat it as clinic guidance, not a promise of better results. At Bliss MD, we recommend using a vacuum pump regularly, as we’ll show you at your visit.

What to Expect Over Time

Changes, if they happen, build slowly over several weeks to a few months. Some men notice little change. We review your response at follow-up and decide together whether another treatment makes sense. See P Shot benefits for a typical results timeline.

When to Call Us

Call (630) 289-0440 if you notice spreading redness, fever, pus, bleeding that won’t stop, or pain that gets worse instead of better. An erection that lasts more than four hours is an emergency. Go to the nearest emergency room.

Whole-Person Care for Healthy Blood Flow

Erections depend on blood flow, nerves, hormones and mood, so we often treat more than one factor. Read about low testosterone and ED, low testosterone symptoms, hormone replacement therapy in Chicago, testosterone pellets, P-Shot vs shockwave vs ED medication and PT-141.

P Shot Cost in Chicago: What $1,000–$2,500 Covers

At Bliss MD, a PRP penile injection, often called the P-Shot, typically costs $1,000 to $2,500 per treatment. Pricing is the same at both clinics. Every P Shot Chicago patient gets a written, itemized quote before treatment day.

Your quote reflects a physician-performed, ultrasound-guided treatment with same-day PRP preparation and written aftercare instructions. We also offer packages that can combine a hormone checkup, hormone replacement, weight loss support, lifestyle changes, P-Shots and shockwave therapy at attractive discounted package pricing.

Often listed separately on your quote: exosomes, stem cells (MSCs), individual shockwave sessions, prescriptions such as PT-141 and hormone therapy when they are not part of a package. HSA or FSA funds may apply, depending on your plan and IRS Publication 502. For package and combination examples, see our full guide to P Shot cost in Chicago.

Patient Experiences With ED Care

Most men understandably don’t post reviews about ED, so much of our practice grows by word of mouth. Bliss MD has helped more than 500 men, ages 30 to 80+ (our oldest patient is 87), regain confidence and improve their sexual health, including men with diabetes.
