TRT Built Around a Full Calendar

Oak Brook is full of office parks, long meetings and early flights. Testosterone replacement therapy Oak Brook men can stick with has to fit that:
  • One trip for labs and visit: blood is drawn on-site, so you don’t need a separate lab stop
  • Fewer visits with pellets: placed every few months, depending on your labs
  • The same physician every time: Dr. Thakkar, board certified in Internal Medicine (ABIM) and practicing since 2011

Normal Labs, Still Not Yourself?

A normal lab range and an optimal level are very different. The range is wide, so you can be “normal” and still feel slower, softer and less driven than you were.

Dr. Thakkar doesn’t want you to settle for a normal life. He wants you to have an exceptional one. So every testosterone replacement therapy Oak Brook plan uses individualized dosing. It aims for the effects you want while minimizing side effects. Optimal doesn’t mean “as high as possible.” It means the level where you feel well and your safety labs stay in range.

Injections, Pellets or Cream

All three are available at both of our clinics, Hanover Park and Lincoln Park.

Option How it’s given How often
Compounded subcutaneous injections (MCT oil) Just under the skin, at home Twice a week
Compounded pellets Placed under the skin in the office Every few months, depending on labs
Compounded cream Applied to the scrotum Daily

Traditional testosterone shots are oil-based, often in cottonseed or grapeseed oil. They go into the muscle, are harder to give, and levels rise and fall. Our under-the-skin injections use MCT oil instead and are compounded only. For some patients, we also offer traditional intramuscular injections.

Pellets are compounded with a cholesterol filler and, only when your labs call for it, an estrogen blocker. In our experience, extrusion and infection are very low. Cream strength can be adjusted, for example from 5% to 20%, versus a common 1.62% commercial gel. Read about testosterone pellets for men.

How We Diagnose Low T

Testosterone replacement therapy Oak Brook care starts with two early-morning testosterone tests, as the American Urological Association and the Endocrine Society recommend. We pair them with your symptoms: low drive, fatigue, lost strength, belly fat or a shorter temper. We also look for sleep apnea, thyroid problems, stress and medicines that can mimic low T. See low testosterone symptoms.

TRT Cost and the Hormone Membership

Cost depends on the form, dose and labs. Our hormone membership keeps testosterone replacement therapy Oak Brook care predictable. Hormone care is direct-pay, and HSA and FSA funds are welcome. Read TRT cost in Chicago.

Safety and Monitoring

Every testosterone replacement therapy Oak Brook patient gets testosterone, hematocrit, PSA, estradiol and blood pressure checked on a set schedule. TRT can lower sperm count, so tell us first if you may want children. It may not be right if you have prostate or breast cancer, or had a recent heart attack or stroke. Read is TRT safe?
